Sous Sinoun, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT), participated in the 6th Global Conference on Elimination of Child Labour held in Marrakech, Morocco. The conference was organised by the Moroccan government in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and convened over 1,200 government, employer, and worker representatives from ILO member states worldwide.
Scope of Application
The conference focused on global efforts to eliminate child labour. It involved representatives of governments, employers, and workers in discussions aimed at integrating regional priorities into a global strategy to eradicate child labour.
Key Provisions or Decisions
During the conference, H.E. Sous Sinoun delivered a statement on the theme “Decent Work for Youth,” emphasizing Cambodia’s achievements in:
- Maintaining strong commitment to close cooperation with the ILO and development partners through social dialogue at all levels to promote decent work for young workers.
- Implementing a robust national legal and policy framework that strictly enforces the policy of zero tolerance towards child labour and forced labour through multiple national mechanisms.
- Expanding access to education, technical and vocational training (TVET), and entrepreneurship initiatives to equip youth with skills for productive and sustainable employment.
The conference reaffirmed global commitment to eliminating child labour completely.
