Digital Skills Capacity Building for Educators Under MoEYS Initiatives

Background

Under the leadership and vision of Senior Minister Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), through its Digital Transformation Department, initiated continuous capacity building through weekly online training courses. The trainings focus on educators who lead out-of-school digital program clubs in Cambodian schools, supporting the national digital education strengthening agenda.

Scope of Application

The programs, including the GCC Online Refresher Training and Technovation Girls Cambodia x Future Digital Talents, target teachers and educational leaders currently managing or implementing extracurricular digital program clubs. These initiatives aim to develop competencies in computational thinking, deep and foundational mobile app development, and digital innovation mentorship.

Key Provisions or Decisions

The continuous training modules provide technical and pedagogical skills enhancement in areas such as computational thinking and technology application development. These serve as interactive platforms for discussing challenges, sharing experiences, applying problem-finding techniques, and embedding digital solutions within entrepreneurial projects. The trainings aim to empower educators as strong mentors capable of guiding students through testing and transforming creative ideas into educational games and functional mobile applications.

Implications for Investors, Businesses, or Compliance

While primarily focused on educational leadership capacity, these programs contribute to Cambodia’s broader human capital development in digital technology. Strengthening educators’ abilities impacts future workforce readiness, potentially increasing the country’s competitiveness in the digital economy and innovation sectors.
