Background
On February 20, 2026, the Secretariat of the Agricultural Support Program for Rural Economy and Agricultural Product Trade (ASPIRE-AT), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), organized a workshop to publicize the 2026 Action Work Plan and Budget (AWPB) and to prepare support plans for Modern Agricultural Communities (MACs). The event was chaired by Dr. Meas Piseth, Secretary of State of MAFF, along with other senior officials from relevant departments and partner institutions.
Scope of Application
This workshop involved leadership and technical officers from MAFF’s General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA), Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), SME Bank, Cambodia Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGCC), leaders and consultants of the Climate Resilience in Agricultural Value Chains project (CREA), as well as representatives from international development organizations and research firms. The scope covers multi-sectoral coordination in planning and budgeting for agricultural economic support and climate resilience projects affecting rural agricultural communities in Cambodia.
Key Provisions or Decisions
The workshop included the dissemination of the ASPIRE-AT 2026 action plan and budget, the preparation of support plans for Modern Agricultural Communities, and the advancement of climate resilience projects within agricultural value chains. Key contributors included department directors and project leaders responsible for agriculture administration, planning, engineering, and community development. Specific discussions centered on coordinated institutional support and resource allocation to strengthen rural economies and improve agricultural production sustainability under climate pressures.
Implications for Investors, Businesses, or Compliance
This workshop and its outputs provide an institutional framework and planned budgetary commitments for modernizing agricultural communities and enhancing climate resilience. Businesses and investors in Cambodia’s agricultural sector can reference this planning process for understanding government priorities, support mechanisms, and potential collaboration channels related to rural economic development and sustainability initiatives.
