Background
On February 23, 2026, the inter-ministry taskforce comprising three deputy heads from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, and the Ministry of Rural Development conducted an official visit. This taskforce coordinates policy implementation and activities related to modern agricultural community support, integrated water use, and rural model communities as part of a multi-sector agricultural-water-rural intervention program.
Scope of Application
The taskforce’s mandate covers selected agricultural communities across multiple provinces in Cambodia participating in modern agricultural practices and integrated natural resource management. In 2026, monitoring visits and further inter-sector interventions are focused on six selected community locations in the provinces of Takeo, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Siem Reap, among others.
Key Provisions or Decisions
The inter-ministry team met with community leaders and members selected for this program to discuss progress and identify development potentials. Locally, they inspected infrastructure and operation of agricultural cooperatives such as the Tram Kak Vegetable Producer Cooperative and field projects including the Hun Sen Paper Mulberry Plantation site in Samaki Meanchey district cooperating with private sector partners to study fodder grass cultivation for dairy farming enhancement.
Implications for Investors, Businesses, or Compliance
This multi-sector intervention represents ongoing government efforts to promote coordination between agriculture, water resource management, and rural development sectors. The engagement with private sector partners exemplifies opportunities for collaboration in agricultural innovation and rural economic development complying with government program frameworks. The documentation of progress supports transparency and structured governance of community-level agricultural support mechanisms.
