Background
On March 3, 2026, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) convened the seventh meeting of the Steering Committee overseeing the EU-Cambodia Technical Education Modernization Partnership Project. The meeting was held at the National University of Jia Sim, Kampong Cham province, chaired by Dr. Im Kouch, Secretary of State and Project Lead.
Scope of Application
This project involves cooperation between Cambodian education institutions and the European Union delegation in Cambodia to modernize technical education. It covers curriculum development, teacher training, study tools, and practical alignment between education and labor market needs.
Key Provisions or Decisions
The meeting addressed three main components: (1) Reviewing progress on work packages including job-oriented curriculum design, curriculum and teaching materials revision, and technical teacher training; (2) Reviewing the implementation of the activity plan from November 2025 to February 2026; and setting the activity agenda and work directions from March to August 2026; (3) Organizing study visits focusing on computer technology and electronics skills development at community development institutes.
Participants included EU delegation representatives, project leaders, education experts from France, Finland, and Germany, university management teams, vocational skills leaders, and relevant stakeholders, totaling 41 attendees with 12 women.
