Establishment and Review of Cambodia’s First Community Technology Center in Takeo Province by National Assembly Committee No. 9

Background

On March 4, 2026, the 9th Committee of Cambodia’s National Assembly, chaired by Ms. Nin Saphon, conducted an on-site review of the work progress at the Community Technology Center located within Hun Sen 1 June High School in Bati District, Takeo Province. This center is the first of its kind in Cambodia, established through inter-ministerial cooperation. The center was officially inaugurated on June 24, 2024.

The Community Technology Center operates as a platform for developing digital skills among students and local residents. It involves partnership efforts between the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The center is equipped with modern computers and high-speed internet. It performs four main functions:

  1. Digital literacy training rooms for students and teacher training.
  2. Distance learning and meeting facilities using online platforms.
  3. Vocational skills training, including civil servant capacity building and technology repair skills for citizens.
  4. Public and informational services, including a postal office serving over 100 countries.

The National Assembly Committee highly commended the center as a significant step in empowering communities to utilize technology to improve living standards and local economies.
