Background
On 21 January 2026, the Australian Embassy partnered with Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) to inaugurate a climate-resilient water treatment plant and distribution system in Taing Kouk District, Kampong Thom Province. This initiative is part of Cambodia’s national objective to achieve universal access to safe and clean water by 2030.
Scope of Application
The new infrastructure supplies safe and treated water to more than 10,000 residents across seven villages in Taing Kouk District. It covers households, four local schools, and one health center, expanding essential water services in this rural area.
