2026 Seminar on Strengthening Implementation of Cambodia’s Economic Diplomacy by MFAIC

Background

On 3 March 2026, the Economic Diplomacy Coordinating Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) organized a hybrid seminar titled “Strengthening the Implementation of Economic Diplomacy”. The seminar was presided over by H.E. EAT Sophea, Permanent Secretary of State and High Representative of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Over 170 participants attended, including MFAIC leadership, heads of Cambodian diplomatic missions abroad, diplomats, and representatives from relevant ministries and institutions.

Scope of Application

The seminar involved domestic and foreign MFAIC officials engaged in economic diplomacy as well as representatives from related ministries and institutions involved in Cambodia’s international economic relations.

Key Provisions or Decisions

The event served as a platform to summarize Cambodia’s economic diplomacy achievements in 2025. It officially launched an updated Economic Diplomacy Toolkit for use by Cambodia’s overseas missions. The toolkit includes informational panels, QR code pamphlets, the MFAIC economic diplomacy website, a calendar of key 2026 events, and exhibition materials designed to enhance foreign promotion of Cambodia’s economic potential.

Implications for Investors, Businesses, or Compliance

By strengthening the institutional coordination of economic diplomacy, the initiative aims to build investor confidence and improve Cambodia’s engagement with foreign investors and tourists. The updated promotional materials and strategic alignment with national economic policies support a more effective external representation of Cambodia’s economic environment.
